Here's one that I thought was silly, until I read about it. A 1993 Suzuki Swift GT.
It came with a 4 cylinder, 1.3L DOHC engine that made about 100hp. This was a big difference from the 3 cylinder engine that came in the regular Swift (which was essentially a Geo Metro).
This engine in fact (as far as I've read) is better than the one in the Geo Metro LSI. I thought they were both the same car but they weren't. The Swift GT is apparently a fairly popular track car, due to the light weight and strong engine. It also came with 4 wheel disc brakes and better suspension.
